EFCO Building for the Future

STRENGTH IN MANY FORMS
EFCO, Economy Forms Corporation, is a story of strength; not only of its high-strength steel alloys and aluminum forming and shoring products but also dedicated employees with strength, education, experience, and determination who have a passion and knowledge of the EFCO business to support our customers.

PROJECT SCHEDULE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT
Most of EFCO’s customers and prospective customers reading this FORM MARKS magazine will focus on our labor-saving products and the excellent architectural concrete finish they can produce. Just as important is the creative initiative team effort an EFCO employee can deliver to support our customers, but in the end, supporting our customers to deliver their project ahead of schedule may be equal or most important of all.

FIND A NEED AND FILL IT
In 1934 EFCO was founded by W. A. Jennings, a 36-year-old civil engineer. The company’s foundation was built upon finding a need and filling it, first with an all-new steel handset HAND-E-FORM system and later emerging with the best forming and shoring systems in the world.

We are now into the fourth family generation and taking along strong and motivated privately-held employee ownership.

A FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESSES
To broaden the strong engineering base of employees, EFCO engineers partner with other EFCO professionals in the
organization to make up a wrap-around support team including:

• Finance
• Human Resources (HR)
• Purchasing
• Manufacturing
• Distribution
• Marketing & Advertising
• Education
• Information Technology (IT)

EFCO’s current successes build on our company’s foundation of predecessor employees and our founder’s successes. We are all pleased and grateful to be working as part of a great EFCO team. When we all work together, we call it “wrap-around support.”

The value of almost all companies and corporations with our current, very productive society comes when we all work together, combining our professional talents. As new employees come into the EFCO organization and learn from us and then continue to work together, we are a very productive organization.

There is very little we can do as individuals alone. It takes planning, teamwork, commitment, and integrity. EFCO abides by our company creed of listening, discussing, deciding, and supporting.

PEOPLE, PRODUCTS, PROCESSES, AND PROJECTS
People are EFCO’s most important assets. Put them at the top of the list and add education, education, education. For contractors and our customers, it is all the same for successes.

EFCO’S CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION & FORMING INSTITUTE
EFCO realizes the importance of people and education and pulls it all together to benefit partnerships with our customers working with EFCO. This requirement has produced EFCO’s Concrete Construction & Forming Institute to deliver the best value and lowest in-place concrete cost.

VISITS TO EFCO
Most of us know something about the Kiewit Corporation, a construction company with its corporate headquarters located in Omaha, Nebraska about a two-hour drive west from Des Moines. Engineering News Record (ENR) ranked Kiewit 6th on their list of top contractors for 2017. Let me tell you their story.

With EFCO opening the institute in September 2002 and over the course of three years, 2007, 2008 and 2009, Kiewit brought more than 291 employees including engineers, managers, superintendents, etc. to EFCO’s training center institute. After recognizing the value of EFCO’s institute, Kiewit built their own training center.

VISITS TO THE INSTITUTE CAN BE VERY VALUABLE
Customer visits to EFCO’s institute are arranged by EFCO’s local management representation serving our contractors and prospective customer jobsite locations. There are usually a minimum of two to four, and many times more, taking the trip. Visits are planned ahead of time to use the time constructively to focus on specific projects and usually meeting with our engineering and field service staff, working specifically with our customers’ immediate opportunities.

Since opening EFCO’s Concrete Construction & Forming Institute just a few years ago, we have had more than 840 customer contractor company visits.
For a visit we try to focus on our customers’ specific type of work and projects, including hands-on training in EFCO’s Construction Hall. It is all built around partnering with our customers for education.
