La Serena & Vallenar Highway
Project Requirements
- Dual carriageway, with 32 return points and turning tracks, plus the construction of 11 overpasses, three new railroad overpasses, and the construction of two new bridges to replace the existing Fiscal Bridge and Juan Soldado Bridge
- The foundations for each pier measured 28′ (8.5 m) x 85′ (26 m) x 5′ (1.5 m) and the abutments measured 26′ (8 m) x 72′ (22 m) x 8′ (2.5 m)
- Walls varying in thickness from 4′ (1.2 m) on the base and 2′-7″ (800 mm) on top, with pour heights of up to 23′ (7 m)

Project Overview
Highway that will connect the cities of La Serena and Vallenar, in the North of Chile, with an approximate extension of 116 miles (187 km) of roadway.
