EFCO’s Community Involvement
EFCO is committed to building stronger communities everywhere we operate. Across every community where our team members live and work, we invest not only in our business but also in the organizations and causes that strengthen the people and places around us.

How We Give
EFCO supports community organizations through financial contributions, in-kind donations, and the volunteer efforts of our team members. We favor sustained, multi-year partnerships over one-time gifts because the impact we want to make takes time to build.
Focus Areas
EFCO’s charitable giving centers on initiatives that contribute to broad community improvement, with particular attention to:
- Education, including culture and the arts
- Health and human services
- Social service programs
One of the Many Ways
EFCO Contributes
EFCO is proud to partner with EMBARC (Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center), Iowa’s first refugee-led service organization. The partnership runs deep; EFCO has a large and proud community of Burmese team members, and two EFCO team members, Lian Thang and Thar Pwin, serve on EMBARC’s board.
EMBARC provides families with critical support across everything from job opportunities and legal needs to food access and interpreting services, serving as a trusted bridge for the Burmese community in Des Moines. When our people thrive, EFCO thrives, and that’s exactly what this partnership is all about.

“Our Team Members are proud to work here because they feel genuinely respected. I’m confident EFCO is a preferred place to work for Burmese families in Des Moines.”
– Lian Thang, EFCO Team Member & EMBARC Board Member
