Innovative Solutions for Faster Construction
EFCO’s PLATE GIRDER® Column Formwork proved highly effective, handling column sizes from 1200 mm x 1200 mm (4′ x 4′) at ground level to 1000 mm x 1000 mm (3′-6″ x 3′-6″) at higher elevations. Its robust design minimized deflection, maintained structural integrity during pours, and facilitated smoother, controlled concrete flow. The allowable pour pressure is 57 kPa (1200 psf), and the maximum pouring height is 6 m (20 ft). This led to faster pour times, reduced surface irregularities, and less leakage compared to alternative systems.
The E-Z DECK® Shoring System, constructed with lightweight aluminum components, further enhanced efficiency with its reduced weight, streamlined accessories, and rigid structure, allowing quicker installation, dismantling, and cycling. Additionally, EFCO’s Crazy Wheel Dolly system simplified the movement of large table forms, enabling just three to four workers to transport them, significantly boosting productivity.
Enhancing Efficiency and Reducing Costs
The SUPER STUD® System used in the lift core walls allowed the contractor to cast full floor heights in a single pour, achieving an impressive 6.4 m (21 ft) casting height with minimal adjustments. EFCO’s Flipper Lock System ensured the fast and secure cycling of formwork components, further expediting the process while maintaining safety standards.
By reducing the need for accessories, minimizing setup time, and providing superior pour pressure resistance, EFCO’s systems enabled rapid progress through the construction cycle. These solutions collectively delivered the lowest in-place concrete cost by saving time, reducing labor expenses, and optimizing material usage—all while upholding the highest safety standards.
Project Results and Efficiency Gains
The project’s success is evident in its remarkable efficiency metrics. An average of 31 columns were poured per floor, with six sets of EFCO column forms utilized. Casting speeds averaged two days per column, while slab shoring, covering approximately 4,200 m² (45,200 ft2), was completed in 22 days per floor using 1.5 floors of E-Z DECK®. Additionally, the lift core erection and formwork closure were completed in just three days, ensuring tight deadlines were met with precision.
